Whoever said living for Jesus wasn’t fun – LIED!!
Like! We still get our freedom.
Jesus = FREEDOM
SIN = Bondage
Sin keeps us trapped in cycles while our FAITH in Jesus gives us true freedom.
For instance, we love music don’t we??
Music can shape who we are as a person.
Take it from someone who knows.
When I was in college, I listened to a bunch of secular music specifically rap music.
Turns out that same rap music was causing me to become depressed.
The words held meaning as I listened to them over and over again.
It was like I was citing a ritual that made me feel sadder each day.
I would hear that ritual and it would dictate how my day would go.
And we have so much music now-a-days.
Sad music, happy music – You get my point.
…..
Well as I became a Christian – God convicted me of some things.
One of them being my music choice.
I honestly didn’t want to give it up, but I also didn’t want to disappoint God.
I’m one of those people that if I’m going to do something I have to completely go for it.
I’m either all the way in or all the way out.
No, in between…
So, I knew if I was going to do this then I would have to delete all my music and start over from scratch.
And I DID!
I looked up Christian music and started a new slate.
I didn’t think I would find Christian rap music that I would love but I DID!
And when I DID God started healing me from the inside out through that music.
Shoutout to GOD!
Where there was sadness there is now joy, peace, and happiness to replace it.
…..
Now, I bump my music in the car loudly praising Jesus.
And you know at first I would turn my music down to respect others but now – I turn my music up because people need to hear the word.
And this is just one of the many ways I share it.
So, even though I gave up my secular music – I still can be crunk.
But this time – CRUNK FOR JESUS!
…..
And maybe Christian rap music isn’t your thing – THAT’S COOL!
There are plenty of different Christian genres to choose from.
God is everywhere you just have to open your heart to receive him.
Until then – You’ll continue to be stuck in bondage.
Repeating cycles from the generation before you and before them.
…..
Be crunk for Jesus and break the cycle.
All of us pretty much have a social media account.
As Christians we have to be careful what music we post on our socials.
If you are trying to relay a message about God to people but your music doesn’t match, then that is contradicting.
We want to bring people closer to Christ not farther away.
Your message plus your music matters.
What you post with Christian music matters.
Harsh but true – You will have to answer for every person that you lead astray.
Matthew 18:6
But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Romans 14:20-21
20 …Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.

And one other thing…
Pray for discernment when listening to Christian music because not all music that claims to be talking about God is talking about the one true God.
Usually when you feel like something is off as you are listening to it that is your discernment and you should pay close attention to it.
When I first started listening to Christian music I would go check the lyrics when I felt like something was off about it.
Just a few tips when making sure the music you are listening to is of God himself.

Living for Jesus doesn’t have to be boring.
We can make it fun, but you have to be willing to change – TO BE SMART AND VIGILANT.
