For My High School Students

Students..

Don’t wait until the last minute to apply for scholarships and colleges.

If you have decided that college isn’t for you. THAT IS OK!

There are plenty of other steps you can take to still be successful and have a great career.

It is important to plan ahead whether you are going to college or not. Have a game plan AND a A, B, C, D plan. Don’t lean on your ability to just be good at sports.

Anything can happen!

Pursuing College

  1. Time isn’t waiting on anyone.
  2. Your peace of mind is at state.
  3. Scholarships have DEADLINES.
  4. Colleges have DEADLINES.

Time will pass a person by if they just sit there and do nothing. I’ve seen it time and time again. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Rushing at the last minute causes unwanted stress before you even get started. WHO WANTS TO DEAL WITH THAT?..

Scholarships have application deadlines, and if you don’t meet those deadlines then you will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you are considering going to a exceptionally great college. You want to show them that you are able to juggle handling deadlines. SO BE RESPONSIBLE!

Here is your homework:

Check out the Connections Academy website.

Be sure to download the Getting Ready for College Checklist below 👇

Requirements

ACT or SAT Test

Research the college(s) that you plan on attending. Some colleges require an ACT, some SAT, others both test. Scores do matter to some colleges. If you have not taken one of these test, they will have you take a placement test in their facility that YOU will have to pass.

**Your high school should provide you with vouchers for taking the ACT test.

FAFSA

FAFSA is an application for federal student aid. Student aid is money that goes towards college tuition, room and board, and meal plans. If their is money left over after paying for the specifics Iisted then the you will be refunded the rest of the money after the 11th day. Students are required to attend class for the first 11 days to receive the refund.

Before you are enrolled in a college your FAFSA has to be completed in its entirety. Depending on how much money your parents make and their taxes will determine if you qualify for student aid.

YOUniversal

YOUniversal is what I like to call the scholarship genius. It links hand in hand with your FAFSA account. This platform is designed to find scholarships that you qualify for. I suggest you check your YOUniversal very frequently. They take their deadlines for accepting scholarships very seriously.

Not Pursuing College

  1. Military
  2. Trade School – What is your niche? What are your interests?
  3. Business Owner – Be Your Own Boss

I bet you are wondering why I only listed three options. Well these options are all you need because they have multiple career choices within themselves.

Check it out for yourself. Google it!

Here is your homework:

Research different trade schools and see what careers they offer. To get you started here are a few below 👇

Plan on being your own boss? Think about something you would be passionate about pursuing.

Search industries in the military.

Requirements

There are NO real requirements besides determination and a can do attitude.

Think! How badly do you want to be in trade school or your own boss?

It is the harder route but if you are driven you can do it!
