From a Shed to Who Knows What?!

DISCLAIMER: This is embarrassing!

Let’s get right down to it!

3 weeks ago I was almost homeless.

And when I say almost homeless I mean literally know where to stay.

I didn’t have money for a hotel – NOTHING!

The funny part (not so funny) was I THOUGHT I had a place to stay.

The day it happened…

Where my life was turned upside down.

I was moving everything into my car to drive to the new place I was going to stay until I found a job.

Confirmed with them that I would be arriving soon and I was given the go to bring my stuff.

Got there everything changed.

I did not have a place to stay like I thought I did.

I’m always someone that thinks and plans ahead of time.

So this time it left me feeling defeated.

I instantly started crying because I felt hopeless.

All I could do was call on the Lord.

And I mean just say, “JESUS!” because I didn’t have the strength to say anything else.

Through the ugly crying I still trusted in God.

As I was trusting in God I put my pride to the side.

I called nearly everyone in my phone to see if they knew of anyone that would let me stay with them for just a little while.

Turns out nobody had a place for me to stay.

I started balling again and again…

I had already been in contact with this lady that I call my Godmother.

I poured my little heart out to her and she comforted me.

Even though at the time she wasn’t able to offer me a place to stay she still was available for me to let it all out.

After I had almost given up and threw in the towel – She told me that she had a shed with air conditioning in it.

In her mind it wasn’t that much but to me it was everything. It meant everything to me because I had no where to go.

God was able to open her heart enough to give me shelter which provided me with a place to sleep and also a place for my pets.

The sad thing about it was before I knew I had a place to stay – I was starting to think I was going to have to make the hard decision to give up my pets.

I knew that I would be able to make it and live in my car but they would not.

That was the hardest and most hurtful moment still until this day.

As I type this part in my blog post, I tear up even thinking about it.

I truly am grateful that I never had to give them up because they are my joy and happy place.

Of course they get on my nerves sometimes but name one pet that doesn’t!

All in all, I’m still living in shed but who knows what God has in store for me next.

Because even though I’ve experienced so much pain and turmoil all in 6 months I’m able to have peace in this shed. Unexplainable and undeniable peace that I know is coming directly from God.

I know He has something better for me and I know I just have to be patiently waiting until he reveals it.

That means even though I’m struggling I must continue to share the good news with others, pray without ceasing, go to church and be amongst the community, and be a light to others.

We are still called just like Paul when He knew He would have to suffer for Jesus but still chose to be obedient in following Him anyway.

Again, God never said that we as Christians wouldn’t go through anything in this lifetime. He said that he would be with us when we do.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Psalms 34:18

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

So if you feel like God is not there with you because things aren’t going your way – Remember Isaiah 41:10

…..

This was actually a hard topic for me to share because it was so personal. If you would like to share something I would love to read it.
